ah, the first restaurant luca ever took me to. i still remember the exhilaration of such new exotic tastes, and even now it is no less thrilling. if you have never tried ethiopian cuisine, i highly recommend making your way over to abysinnia. you can expect all sorts of delights from their menu of both carnivorous and vegan dishes, served atop traditional injera, an ingeniously conceived spongy flatbread, used for scooping up mouthfuls of culinary bliss. on my last visit I ordered the vegetarian combo plate, full of goodies such as collards, lentils of various colors and other delectable plant-based offerings. one selection tasted a bit mustardy, but everything else was exquisite and well-spiced. johanna ordered the potato option from the veg menu - totally amazing. It's unfortunate we had to take our food to go and eat it in the waiting room at bryn mawr hospital, but comfort eating never tasted so good... and besides, I'll be back.
